Atria Trades
Terms and Conditions
- Version
- 2.0
- Effective from
- 21 Sept 2026
These terms govern your use of Atria Trades. They apply whether you are a customer posting work, a tradesperson quoting for it, or simply browsing the site.
The most important thing to understand: Atria Trades is a platform that introduces customers to tradespeople. When work is agreed, the contract for that work is between the customer and the tradesperson. Atria Trades is not a party to it and does not carry out the work.
Who we are
Atria Trades is operated by ATRIA TRADES LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17431674, whose registered office is at 97 Broad Oaks, Sheffield, England, S9 3HH.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Atria Trades” mean that company. “You” means the person or business using the platform.
You can reach us at support@atriatrades.com. See our contact page for what to expect.
What Atria Trades is, and what it is not
Atria Trades is an online marketplace. Customers describe work they need doing at a property; tradespeople who cover that area can see the job and submit a quote; the customer chooses which quote, if any, to accept.
We provide the platform. We do not:
- carry out any of the work ourselves;
- employ, supervise or direct the tradespeople who use the platform;
- guarantee that any job will receive quotes, or that any quote will be accepted;
- set or control the price of any job — quotes are the tradesperson's own, and any budget a customer gives is an indication, not an instruction;
- warrant the quality, timeliness or legality of work carried out by a tradesperson.
When a customer accepts a quote, a contract is formed between that customer and that tradesperson for the work described. We are not a party to that contract.
Definitions
- Customer — a person or business that registers to post jobs. This includes landlords, homeowners, property managers and letting professionals.
- Tradesperson — a person or business that registers to quote for and carry out work.
- Job — a piece of work a customer posts, at a property they control.
- Quote — a priced offer submitted by a tradesperson for a job.
- Accepted quote — a quote a customer has selected, which assigns that tradesperson to the job.
- Consumer — an individual acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Accounts and eligibility
To register you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be based in the United Kingdom;
- give accurate registration details and keep them up to date;
- have the authority to enter into these terms, on your own behalf or on behalf of the business you register.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
One person or business should hold one account. You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their authority, or register again after we have closed your account.
Using Atria Trades as a customer
When you post a job you confirm that:
- you own the property, or otherwise have the right to arrange the work being requested;
- the description you give is honest and complete enough for a tradesperson to price it sensibly;
- any photographs you upload are yours to share, and do not show other people without their agreement;
- you will give access to the property as agreed once you have accepted a quote.
Choosing a tradesperson is your decision. Quotes are shown to you in the order they arrived; we do not rank them, score them, or mark any of them as the best choice. Price, the tradesperson's description of what is included, their estimated duration and their availability are all shown so that you can weigh them yourself.
The full address of your property is not shared with a tradesperson until you accept their quote. Until then they see the outward part of the postcode and the town.
Confirming that work is finished, and what happens if you do not. When a tradesperson marks a job complete we ask you to confirm it, or to tell us if something is wrong. If you do neither, we send you a reminder after 3 days and again after 7, and if we still have not heard from you 14 days after the tradesperson marked it done, we mark the job complete ourselves. Both reminders say the date this will happen.
We do this because the alternative leaves a tradesperson who has finished the work with no way to close the job and no way to be paid. Telling us there is a problem stops the clock — a job you have raised something about is never closed automatically, and there is no deadline on sorting it out. Marking a job complete is not a statement that you were happy with it, and it does not affect any right you have in law about work that was not done properly.
Using Atria Trades as a tradesperson
When you register and quote you confirm that:
- you hold every qualification, registration and licence the law requires for the work you offer;
- you hold appropriate insurance for that work, and will keep it in force while you use the platform;
- information on your profile — your trade, experience, services and portfolio — is accurate and describes work you actually did;
- a quote you submit is a genuine offer you are willing and able to honour;
- you will carry out any work you take on with reasonable care and skill.
Certain work is legally restricted in the UK — gas work, some electrical work in dwellings, and other regulated activities. Offering or carrying out such work without the required registration is a criminal offence, and doing so through Atria Trades will result in your account being closed.
You work for yourself
A tradesperson on Atria Trades is an independent business — whether a sole trader, a partnership or a company. You are not our employee, worker or agent, and we do not direct how, when or whether you do a job. That also means your tax and National Insurance are yours to deal with: we do not deduct either from anything you are paid, and whether you need to register for VAT depends on your own turnover, not on us. Keeping the insurance you confirmed above is part of the same responsibility.
Reporting your earnings to HMRC
Since 1 January 2024, UK law has required online platforms to report to HMRC what the people selling through them have earned. It applies to services as well as goods, and for services there is no minimum — a tradesperson who earns through a platform is reportable whatever the amount.
Where those rules apply to Atria Trades, we are required to:
- ask you for your full name, home address, date of birth and National Insurance number — or, for a business, its registered details and tax reference — and your VAT number if you have one;
- report what you earned through Atria Trades in each calendar year, less our commission, to HMRC by the following 31 January;
- send you a copy of exactly what we reported, so you can check it against your own;
- keep those records for as long as the law requires.
If you do not give us the details when we ask for them, we may have to hold back payouts or restrict your account until you do. We would much rather not, and we will remind you first.
Jobs, quotes and acceptance
- A customer posts a job. It becomes visible to tradespeople covering that area.
- A tradesperson may submit one quote per job, giving a price, what the price includes, an estimated duration and their availability. They may edit or withdraw it while it is still pending.
- The customer may accept one quote. Accepting it assigns that tradesperson to the job and automatically declines every other quote on it.
- An estimated duration is the tradesperson's honest estimate. It is not a guaranteed completion time, and we do not present it as one.
- A customer may cancel a job at any time before a quote is accepted. Cancelling closes any quotes that were still pending.
Once a quote is accepted, arrangements for the work — timing, access and payment — are between the customer and the tradesperson.
Changing the price after that. If what the job needs turns out to be different, the tradesperson can put a new total to the customer through Atria Trades, with a reason for the change. The customer agrees or declines it, and nothing changes unless they agree: until then the price is the one already accepted, and no extra work is agreed. It can go down as well as up. A change cannot be proposed once the tradesperson has marked the work finished — if the job changed, that is while it was happening.
Fees and commission
Customers pay Atria Trades nothing. Registering, adding a property, posting a job, receiving quotes, messaging a tradesperson and accepting a quote are all free, and always will be. What you pay for the work itself is the price you agreed with the tradesperson.
Tradespeople pay commission on completed work only. There is no registration fee, no charge for quoting, no subscription, no trial and no free tier. A job you do not win costs you nothing, and a job that does not complete costs you nothing.
| What | The rate |
|---|---|
| Accepted quote over £100 | 15% of the accepted quote |
| Accepted quote of £100 or less | 10% of the accepted quote |
| Most one tradesperson pays in a calendar month | £199, across every job |
What it is charged on. Commission is a percentage of the accepted quote. If the work turns out larger than quoted and you agree a higher price with the customer directly, the commission does not rise with it — it stays on the figure that was quoted and accepted through Atria Trades.
If the price changes through Atria Trades, the commission follows it. A tradesperson can put a new total to the customer with a reason, and the customer agrees or declines. Nothing changes unless they agree. Once they do, the new figure is the accepted quote for every purpose in these terms — including this one — whether it is higher or lower than the original. A price agreed anywhere else is covered by the paragraph above and does not move the commission either way.
When it becomes payable. When the work is confirmed complete. Not when you quote, not when your quote is accepted, and not when you say the work is finished — confirmation is the only event that triggers it. Each job is charged once and only once. A job confirmed automatically under the rule below is confirmed for this purpose like any other.
The monthly cap. No tradesperson pays more than £199 in commission in any calendar month, however many jobs they complete. The cap is applied to your running total for the month, so the order in which your jobs happen to be confirmed cannot change what you pay. Past roughly £1,330 of completed work in a month, further work through Atria Trades costs you nothing in commission.
How it is collected. Where the customer's payment for a job passes through Atria Trades, commission is deducted from that payment and the balance is paid out to the tradesperson. See Payments.
We will tell tradespeople about any change to our fees at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change applies to jobs completed after it takes effect; the rate applied to each job is recorded against that job at the time and does not change afterwards.
Payments
Who holds the money. Card payments are taken and held by our payment provider, a regulated payment business, under its own terms. The payment goes into the tradesperson’s own account with that provider, where it stays until it is released to them — it never passes through Atria Trades. Atria Trades is a marketplace: it decides when a payment is released and records what happened, and it does not receive customer payments into its own bank account, or into its own account with the provider. Atria Trades is not a payment institution and is not regulated as one.
When the customer pays. When a customer accepts a quote, they are taken to the payment provider's own page to pay the agreed price in full by card. The job is not booked, the tradesperson is not assigned, and the other quotes are not declined, until that payment succeeds. If it does not, nothing has happened: the job stays open and the other quotes stay live.
When the tradesperson is paid. The payment is released to the tradesperson when the customer confirms that the work is complete, less our commission. A job confirmed automatically under Jobs, quotes and acceptance — because the customer said nothing either way within the stated period — is released in the same way. Release is an instruction to the payment provider; how long the money then takes to reach the tradesperson's bank is a matter for the provider and that bank.
Before a tradesperson can quote they must complete the payment provider's own identity and business checks and have their payout account approved. A customer’s payment goes straight into that account, so without it there is nowhere for the money to go, and a quote the customer could not pay for would waste their choice. If an account stops being able to receive payments later, work already accepted carries on and the money waits in it until the provider clears it again.
If the price changes. Where a change of price is agreed through Atria Trades after a quote has been accepted, an increase is paid by the customer at the time they agree it, and a reduction is refunded to them then. Commission follows the agreed figure. See Fees and commission.
Cancellation, and a tradesperson who cannot finish. If a job is cancelled after the customer has paid — by either party — or the tradesperson withdraws from it, the payment stays held and we open a payment case about it straight away (see Payment cases). Where no work had started, we will normally refund the customer in full, with no commission charged. Where some work had been done, we decide what part of the payment reflects it and refund the balance. A tradesperson who withdraws does not thereby become entitled to any part of the payment.
If the customer says the work is not right. Reporting a problem through the platform stops the automatic release described above, and most of these end with the tradesperson putting the work right and the customer confirming. Where they do not, either of you can ask us to decide about the payment, under Payment cases.
Refunds. A refund is made to the card the payment came from, through the payment provider, and recorded against the job. Our commission is only ever taken when money is released to the tradesperson, so where the whole payment is refunded the customer receives everything they paid, commission included; where part is, commission is charged only on the part the tradesperson receives. Once a payment has been released to the tradesperson we cannot refund it — at that point the money is theirs, and getting it back is a matter between the customer and them.
Chargebacks. Where a customer reverses a payment through their card issuer, no commission is retained on it.
Atria Trades never sees or stores your card details. They are entered on the payment provider's own page and held by them.
Payment cases
While the customer's payment is still held by our payment provider — paid, but not yet released to the tradesperson — either of you can ask us to decide where it goes. We call that a payment case. It is for when the two of you cannot agree; if you still can, that is usually quicker, and you can withdraw a case you asked for at any time before we decide.
Asking. Use the link on the job's page and say briefly what has gone wrong. From that moment the payment is frozen: nothing is released to the tradesperson, the job is not confirmed automatically, and nothing is refunded, until we decide. Somebody on our team then checks it is something we need to decide and opens the case. If it is not — for example, because you are still putting it right between you — we close it, tell you both why, and the payment is no longer frozen by it.
Cases we open ourselves. If a job is cancelled, or the tradesperson leaves it, while the customer's payment is still held, nobody is going to approve that work — so we open a case about the payment straight away, and tell you both. Neither of you can withdraw one of these, because the money still has to go somewhere.
Evidence. Once a case is open, each of you has 7 days to send us what you want considered: up to 5 statements, each with up to 4 photographs. Everything either of you sends is shown to the other, and to our team, so that each of you can answer the other. What was said on the job before the case — its updates, photographs and history — is considered too. We may give both sides more time, once, by up to 7 days, and will tell you both why. If you both tell us you have nothing more to add, we can decide before the time is up.
The decision. A member of our team decides — never an automatic rule — and we aim to do so within 7 days of the evidence closing. There are three possible outcomes:
- All of it back to the customer. The customer receives everything they paid, including our commission, which is never taken on money that is refunded.
- All of it to the tradesperson. It is released as if the customer had confirmed the work, less our commission as normal.
- Split. Part goes back to the customer and the rest to the tradesperson. Our commission is charged only on the part the tradesperson receives.
We tell you both the outcome, the amounts and our reasons, in the same words. Where the job was still with the tradesperson, a decision that releases money completes it and a full refund closes it.
The provider's time limit. Our payment provider holds a payment for at most 90 days from when it was taken. If a case is still open within 14 days of that limit, we may decide it before the evidence period ends, so that a person decides rather than the calendar. If we do, we will say so and why.
What a decision is, and what it is not. We decide as the operator of the marketplace, not as an arbitrator. A decision settles where the payment held by our payment provider goes. It does not decide who was right under the contract between the customer and the tradesperson, and it does not affect any legal right either of you has against the other — including a customer's rights under consumer law, going to court, or using an alternative dispute resolution scheme. Once money has been released or refunded under a decision we cannot move it again; anything further is between the two of you.
Your information in a case. What each of you sends, and our decision, are kept for 6 years after the case closes, after which the words and photographs are removed and the outcome and amounts are kept. Please send only what is relevant to the work and the money — not other people's details, bank details or anything about anyone's health. The Privacy Policy sets out who sees it and why. You cannot close your account while a case you are part of is open.
Sending us evidence you know to be false, or altered photographs, is a breach of these terms and may lead to your account being suspended.
Urgent and emergency jobs
A customer can mark a job as urgent or as an emergency. That changes how prominently the job is shown and how quickly tradespeople are told about it. It is not a service level, and it is not a promise that anybody will come. Atria Trades does not employ or dispatch tradespeople, does not guarantee that a job will receive any quote, and has no way to make somebody attend.
If somebody is in danger, do not post a job
Atria Trades is not an emergency service and must never be used as one. A job posted here is read by tradespeople when they happen to look at it.
- Fire, or anyone injured or at immediate risk — call 999.
- You can smell gas, or suspect a gas leak or carbon monoxide — leave the building and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, free, 24 hours.
- A power cut or an electrical danger — call 105, which connects you to the network operator for your area.
- A burst main or no water — your water supplier has a 24-hour line, on your bill.
Those calls are free and they are the right first step. Book the repair afterwards.
What a quote covers
A quote is the tradesperson’s own price for the work described, and it should cover everything needed to do that work — labour and materials both — unless it says otherwise on its face. A tradesperson who intends to charge separately for materials, a call-out, parking, a congestion or clean-air charge, or taking waste away, has to say so in the quote. A cost that first appears after the work is done is not something the customer agreed to.
If the job turns out to need more than was quoted, there is one route for that and it is described in Jobs, quotes and acceptance: the tradesperson puts a new total to the customer, the customer agrees or declines, and nothing changes unless they agree.
VAT
Atria Trades Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged on commission. Whether a tradesperson charges VAT on their own work is a matter between them, the customer and HMRC, and depends on whether that tradesperson is registered. A quote should make clear whether the price includes VAT.
When the platform is unavailable
Our responsibility to you already says we do not promise the platform will always be available. Two things follow from that which are worth saying plainly.
We will sometimes take parts of the service down to maintain them, and we will give notice where we reasonably can. Parts of Atria Trades also depend on other companies — payment processing, hosting, email and text messaging — and when one of them has a bad day, some of what we do stops working until they fix it.
An outage does not change an agreement you have already made. If the platform is down, work a customer and a tradesperson have agreed still stands, and they can deal with each other directly. What waits is anything that has to go through us — quoting, accepting, and payment.
Cancellation and consumer rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services that are not carried out with reasonable care and skill, and those rights are not limited here.
The 14-day right to cancel. If you are a consumer and you agree work away from the tradesperson's business premises — which is what booking through this site normally is — you generally have 14 days to change your mind about that work, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The contract is between you and the tradesperson, so the right is exercised against them; tell us as well and we will hold the payment and put it through a payment case, so the money is not released while it is sorted out.
Two things follow from the rules, and they catch people out. If you ask for the work to start inside those 14 days and it is finished, you lose the right to cancel it. If it is started but not finished, you can still cancel and pay for what was actually done. Emergency and urgent jobs are the usual case, which is why Urgent and emergency jobs says the same thing.
You may close your Atria Trades account at any time. Closing your account does not by itself cancel work you have already agreed with a tradesperson.
Verification and what it means
A tradesperson's profile may show a verification status. A verification badge means only that Atria Trades has carried out the specific check named on it — nothing more. It is not a warranty of competence, and it is not a recommendation.
Where no check has been carried out, the profile says so plainly rather than saying nothing. Ratings and review counts are shown only where reviews actually exist.
When a check lapses
An insurance certificate that ran out in March is not insurance, and a registration that has lapsed is not a registration. A check stops counting the moment it expires, whether or not anybody remembered to act on it. We tell a tradesperson before that happens, and again when it has.
For work that legally requires a particular cover or registration, a lapsed check means you cannot quote for that work until a current one is on file. It does not affect work you have already taken on, and it does not affect trades that never required the check. This is the one place on Atria Trades where a tradesperson is stopped from earning without a person deciding it, and it happens because the alternative is sending somebody to a customer’s home uninsured. Upload a current certificate and it lifts straight away; if you think it has been applied wrongly, get in touch and a person will look.
Giving us a document that is forged, altered, or not yours is a different matter. That is fraud, and the account will be closed.
Reviews and ratings
A review comes out of a completed job, or it does not exist. Only the customer whose job reached completion can leave one, and only about the tradesperson who did that job — the platform takes the tradesperson from the job itself, so there is no way to review somebody you were never matched with. One job, one review.
You can change a review for 24 hours after you leave it. After that it stands, and a review that was edited says so on its face. A tradesperson may publish one reply to a review about them, which appears alongside it.
Reviews we will and will not remove
A review can be reported, by either side, and a person reads it. We remove a review that is abusive, that identifies somebody, that is not about the work, or that we conclude was not written by a real customer of that job. We do not remove a review for being negative, and a tradesperson cannot have one taken down by asking. When a review is removed the record of it is kept with the reason — a review that can be made never to have existed is worth nothing as a record — and the person who wrote it is told.
Patterns we look at
We look for patterns that suggest reviews are being manufactured: the same customer reviewing the same tradesperson repeatedly, several reviews for one tradesperson inside a day, or a review left within hours of an account being created. A pattern raises a flag for a person to look at. It is never an automatic sanction, and nothing is decided about a tradesperson by a machine alone.
Writing or arranging fake reviews, in either direction, is a breach of these terms and of consumer protection law.
Messages
Messages on Atria Trades belong to a job. There is no general inbox, and there is no way to message somebody you have no job with — which is deliberate, and is most of what keeps the platform free of unsolicited approaches.
What you may not send is already covered in Things you must not do and applies to messages exactly as it applies everywhere else.
When we read them
We do not monitor conversations. We will read the messages on a job when somebody reports a problem with it, when we are investigating a dispute about payment, or where the law requires it — and for no other reason. A message is often the only record of what was actually agreed, which is why it is worth keeping and why we look at it when the two sides disagree.
How long they are kept
Messages are kept with the job and removed on the schedule in the retention section of the Privacy Policy, which also explains why each period is the length it is. Photographs attached to a conversation go at the same time.
The Property Passport
The Property Passport is the record you keep against a property: certificates and other documents, warranties, maintenance history, and how to get in. It is yours. Work done through Atria Trades can add to it, and you can add your own records of work done elsewhere, but only you can open it.
How to get in
Key-safe details and entry instructions are the most sensitive thing you can give us, and they are treated that way. They are shown to you, and to a tradesperson only while they have a live job at that property and only from the point their contact details are shared with you. Not to a tradesperson browsing jobs, not to one who quoted and was not chosen, not to one whose job has finished — and there is no screen in the product, ours included, that shows them to anybody else.
Taking it with you
You can produce a report of a property’s passport to print or save, for a sale, a new letting agent or an insurer. Access details are left out of that report unless you deliberately choose to include them, because a report is made to be passed on.
When a property changes hands
A passport does not move from one account to another. If you sell a property or stop managing it, produce the report and hand it over, and archive the property in your account. We will not give one person’s passport to somebody else, whatever their connection to the property — a new owner starts their own.
When you close your account
Access details for every property you hold are deleted at the moment you close your account.
The rest of the passport — documents, warranties and maintenance history — is kept for six years after you close your account and then deleted. That is the period in which a sale, an insurance claim or a dispute about work on the property could need it, and it means closing your account in a hurry does not cost you a gas certificate you later need. Nobody can see it in that time, us included through the product. If you want a copy, get in touch.
Content you provide
You keep ownership of everything you upload — job descriptions, photographs, profile text, portfolio images. By uploading it you give us a licence to store it and to display it to the people who need to see it in order for the platform to work: your job description and photographs to tradespeople who can quote for it, your public profile to customers browsing.
You must not upload anything you do not have the right to share, anything unlawful, or anything that identifies another person without their agreement.
We may remove content that breaches these terms, and will tell you when we do unless we are prevented from doing so.
Our intellectual property
The other side of that: the Atria Trades name and logo, the software behind the platform, its design, and the text and images we have written ourselves are ours, or licensed to us. Using the platform does not transfer any of it to you.
You may link to us, and you may quote a reasonable amount of what we publish if you say where it came from. You may not copy the platform, reproduce our branding, or take the contents of the site and put them somewhere else as if they were yours — which includes building a competing listing from our data. The database of jobs, quotes and profiles is ours as a whole, even though the individual entries belong to the people who wrote them, and Things you must not do already forbids extracting it.
Things you must not do
- Misrepresent who you are, your qualifications, or your insurance.
- Post a job you have no intention of having done, or a quote you cannot honour.
- Use the platform to advertise other services, to recruit, or to contact other users for anything other than the job in hand.
- Attempt to access another person's account, jobs, quotes or property information.
- Scrape, copy or systematically extract data from the platform, or attempt to interfere with its operation or security.
- Introduce malware, scan the platform for vulnerabilities or test its security without our written permission, or work around any security control we have put in place.
- Post anything abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise unlawful.
We also expect jobs introduced through Atria Trades to be transacted through Atria Trades. Deliberately taking an introduction off the platform to avoid commission is a breach of these terms.
Security
Keeping your account safe is covered in Accounts and eligibility, and the things nobody may do to the platform are in Things you must not do. This section covers what we may do about security, and what we cannot promise.
Checks we may ask you to pass
We may require you to reset your password, confirm your identity again, or complete an additional authentication step, where we reasonably think it is needed to protect you, another user, or the platform. We will not use this to make an account harder to close or to delay money that is owed.
Acting on suspicious activity
We may restrict, suspend or disable access to an account where we reasonably suspect unauthorised access, fraud, misuse, or another security risk. Where the risk is immediate we may act first and explain afterwards, which is the one case where the notice described in Suspending or closing an account may come after the event rather than before it.
Services we rely on
Parts of Atria Trades run on services provided by other companies — payment processing, hosting, email and text messaging among them. They operate their own systems under their own terms, and we choose them on that basis. Where one of them handles personal information, the Privacy Policy names the category and says why.
What we cannot promise
We take security seriously, and the measures actually in place are listed under how we protect your information rather than summarised here, so that there is one description of them and it is the accurate one. But no service that is reachable over the internet can promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If something does happen that affects your account or your personal information, what we will do about it, who we must tell and how quickly, is set out in that same policy.
Our responsibility to you
We will provide the platform with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise that it will always be available or uninterrupted, and we may change or suspend parts of it.
We are not responsible for the work itself. Because the contract for the work is between the customer and the tradesperson, we are not liable for the standard, timing, cost or consequences of work arranged through the platform, or for the conduct of any user.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any one job is limited to the commission we charged on that job, or £250 if we charged no commission. Where a claim does not relate to a particular job, our total liability to you is limited to £250.
If you are a business user, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
Suspending or closing an account
We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, if information given to us is false, if required by law, or to protect other users. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
Closing an account does not delete records we are required to keep. What we keep and for how long is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Every version carries a version number and an effective date, shown at the top of this page. When we make a material change we will tell registered users by email, and show the new version here, at least 14 days before it takes effect. A change we have to make immediately — to follow the law, or to close a security problem — takes effect when we publish it, and we will say so when we tell you.
We record which version of these terms and of the Privacy Policy you accepted, and when.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, tell us at support@atriatrades.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days.
A complaint about the work itself should be raised with the tradesperson first. We can look at conduct on the platform, and where the customer's payment is still held we can decide where it goes under Payment cases — but we do not decide who was right about the workmanship itself, and a payment case does not replace any other route either of you has.
Alternative dispute resolution. Atria Trades is not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, so if we cannot settle a complaint between us there is no scheme we will refer it to. That does not take anything away from you: you keep every other right, including taking the matter to court.

Neither of us is responsible for failing to do something under these terms where the cause is genuinely outside our reasonable control — among them a failure of the internet or of a utility, a fire or flood, industrial action, or an act of government. This does not excuse paying money that is owed; it excuses being late with things that could not be done. If such an event goes on long enough to make the arrangement pointless, either of us can end it.
If the business changes hands
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another business — if Atria Trades is sold, merged or reorganised, for example. Your rights are not reduced by that, and we will tell you if it happens. You may not transfer yours to somebody else without our agreement, because these terms are personal to the account holder.
The rest
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest carries on. Only the part that fails falls away.
- If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given it up. A delay is not a waiver, and neither is letting one thing pass.
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, are the agreement between you and us about the platform. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away anything you were told before you signed up, or any right the law gives you.
- Nobody who is not a party to these terms may enforce them, except where this document says otherwise.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in its courts. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you keep the benefit of the mandatory protections of the law where you live and may bring proceedings there.
